Crashed Blue Jay Birdhouse Woodcraft Pattern

OOPS! This poor crashed blue jay birdhouse will get lots of attention when you display it on a tree in your yard.

You will have fun making this project with complete instructions on our full-size pattern. Clever hinged leg design mounts harmlessly to eight inch diameter or larger trees. Birdhouse measures 17" tall.

Uses one package of both our 1" Brass Hinges (#BHNG1) and 1-1/2: Brass Hinges (#BHNG2).

Wood:
one 1X10 x 96" long pine board

Tools: Table saw or circular saw and a band saw or scroll saw with a smooth non-chipping blade, Drill and 1/16", 3/32", 3/16" and 1-1/2" dia. drill bits

Hardware:
Nails - One box, 3D 1-1/4" long, finish
Hinge - Two 1" x 1-1/16" brass plated (#BHNG1)
Four 1-1/2" x 1-1/2", brass plated (#BHNG2)
Eyescrew - Two 5/16" I.D. (#EYE3)
Screw - Three #8 x 1-1/2" long, flat head
Chain - Double loop steel chain, length depends on diameter of tree.
Flush Mount Hanger (optional) - One 1-3/4" x 1-1/2" (#FMH)

Supplies:
Transfer paper (#Carb), pencil & clear tape
Sand Paper - medium & fine grits
Wood Glue - exterior (#GLUETB3)
Wood filler - non-shrinking, fast drying for wood flaws
Paint brushes - 2", 1" and fine detail

Paint:
White water base primer (#PRIMQT) for a base coat and the
following suggested colors of Delta Craft paint:
#P2057 - Quaker Grey
#P2059 - Blue Jay
#P2505 - White
#P2506 - Black

Sealer:
High-grade, non-yellowing, semi-gloss UV protected project sealer (#POLYQT) for outdoor protection
